Social Studies 608 Sixth grade social studies curriculum includes the study of early humans, the development of tools, patterns of migration, how civilizations develop, and the role of religion. Students study the people and events of ancient history including Egypt, Nubia, Kush, and Mesopotamia. They choose a topic, research ideas, take notes, organize an outline, write a rough draft, write a bibliography, write a final copy, and give an oral report of their findings. The students utilize map skills throughout the year demonstrating their knowledge of The Balkan Peninsula, Greece, Egypt, India, Rome, and China. Sixth grade students study the regions of China and Rome and the events and people that shaped those societies. They study ancient Rome, the Birth of Christianity, Moses and the Ten Commandments, and Abraham the Father of Many Nations.
